The Lesbian and Gay Psychotherapy
Association of Southern California (LAGPA) was established in 1992 as an organization of
mental health professionals interested in gay and lesbian clients.
LAGPA members are
actively involved in expanding the role of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers,
and marriage, family, and child counselors who serve the greater gay community of Southern
California.
While LAGPA is oriented toward mental health professionals, individuals
desiring to join LAGPA are not required to be licensed.
LAGPA's purpose is to facilitate social and
professional networking for mental health professionals in the greater Los Angeles area.
LAGPA seeks to join such individuals together for academic and
social events, to develop educational community outreach activities, to foster and promote a positive gay &
lesbian identity, and to serve as role models for all members of the gay, lesbian &
bisexual community.
Members of LAGPA are committed to the process of
developing the finest psychological skills for working
with clients confronted with the complexity of personal
issues related to being homosexual in a homophobic world. |

15th Annual LGBT Psychotherapy Conference
Sunday, October 11, 2009
University of Southern California (USC)
We have confirmed holding our annual psychotherapy conference at the University of Southern California (USC) on Sunday October 11. This coincides with National Coming Out Week and the University is very excited about co-sponsoring the event. Details are still being worked out. We are still trying to locate a keynote speaker. Do you have any recommendations? We have put together the "Call for Papers/Presenters." The link below will download the application. Please consider presenting at the conference. This will be our first conference to which LAGPA is an APA continuing education provider. The sooner we receive your application, the sooner we can plan the program. You are welcome to let others know of this conference.
